CHINA, First Republic SPECTACULAR Hu vase in porcelain with ‘Famille Rose’ enamels; the main decoration around the rim depicts a fortified city on the shores of a lake, surrounded by mountain peaks, with numerous boats bringing the scene to life. The base of the neck is adorned with a garland of ruyi symbols set against a fuchsia background, stylised cicadas alternating between blue and red, surmounted by lotus flowers, their leafy stems standing out against a yellow background. Lotus panels, Greek fret patterns and ruyi motifs, as well as taotie heads in half-relief, complete the decoration.
