Engraving produced by Lafrery in the 16th century. Upon his death, his nephew – Claude Duchet – produced re-prints of these copper plates under his own name. Our work appears to have been printed in 1602 by Giovanni Orlandi, a Roman and later Neapolitan publisher known for having purchased numerous copper plates from Nicolas Van Aelst, amongst others. A fine example illustrating the evolution of copperplate engravings at the end of the Italian Renaissance and at the dawn of the Grand Siècle.
