Coat of arms of the De Commaille family (Armorial: Per vert and gules, with a gold lion, armed and langued in gules, bearing on its shoulder a shield of sable with a silver eagle, charged in the centre with a escutcheon of azure, bearing three gold coins; with a silver chief, charged with a crown of thorns, flanked by two helmets facing each other, all on a black field.)
Two gouaches with the motto ‘Nunc Super Cras Infra’.

The Barons of Comaille (Roman Marquises) were a family ennobled during the Restoration, very close to Gregory XVI; their numerous insignia and orders of honour attest to their devotion to the Holy See (Commander of the Order of St Gregory, Officer of the Legion of Honour, Knight of the Order of Malta, Order of Saint Sylvester and the Golden Spur, Order of Dannebrog, Order of Saint Ferdinand. One of the two gouaches is notable for being surmounted only by a simple baronial crown, predating the Roman chapter of the Order of Malta which would later confer upon them the title of Marquis.
Elie de Comaille, the eldest son of Baron Henri de Comaille, was a member of the Chamber of Agriculture in Tonkin in the late 19th century. He died in 1905 in a steamboat accident, along with two hundred other Indochinese victims.
