A square miniature pocket portrait under glass, depicting the presumed likeness of Viscount Pierre
Amédée Posuel de Verneaux (1797–1871) in a blue tailcoat, painted in gouache on a sheet of elephant ivory
(Elephas maximus, Loxodonta africana or Loxodonta cyclotis).
In a red leather-covered slipcase (damaged)

Item made wholly or partly of ivory from proboscideans of the Elephantidae subfamily (Elephas maximus, Loxodonta africana or Loxodonta cyclotis), listed in Appendix I/A of CITES/EU.
In accordance with the regulatory provisions in force within the European Union (Regulation (EU) No 2021/2280 of 16 December 2021), the item will be handed over to the purchaser together with its Intra-Community Certificate FR2601200010-K issued by the DREAL, accompanied by the expert report drawn up by Mr Pierre Grignon Dumoulin, a court-appointed expert in works of art composed of materials derived from biodiversity and an approved agent. Re-export outside the EU is prohibited, except by state cultural institutions upon presentation of supporting documentation.
