Description
A colour-woven portrait of Marshal Pétain, enhanced with gold thread. Designed for Jacquard weaving by P.R. Doutreliugne. Circa 1941. Dimensions: 53.5 x 42.5 cm. A large, colourfully woven portrait depicting the Marshal in uniform. Produced in 1941 by the Lyon Weaving School and designed for Jacquard weaving by Mr Doutreliugne. The tapestry, woven in the small village of Saint-Denis de Cabannes, was produced on a Diederichs loom. It bears a censorship stamp OA203.
