Large bronze figure depicting Apollino Based on an ancient model, Italy, c. 1900 Resting on a fully cast plinth H: 153 cm First mentioned at the Villa Medici in Rome in 1704, the Roman marble sculpture depicting the young Apollo leaning against a tree trunk, known as the Apollino, immediately gained great renown. In 1771, it was transferred to the famous Tribune of the Uffizi in Florence, where it is on display. Comparative bibliography: F. Haskell & N.
