Jeanselme was a prestigious Parisian cabinetmaking firm, highly active in the 19th century, particularly during the reigns of Louis-Philippe and Napoleon III, to whom it was a preferred supplier. Several generations of this family of cabinetmakers succeeded one another at the firm. In 1824, Joseph and his brother Jean Arnoux founded their chair-making workshop (operating under the name Jeanselme Frères until 1840).
In 1847, they acquired the prestigious business of the Jacob firm.
