Title page with medallion portrait of Luther. Five handwritten leaves (one flyleaf and one pastedown page at the front, three flyleaves at the back), with carefully written additions occupying almost the entire space of the leaves, in beautiful German vernacular script, titles in ornamental capitals. These manuscript leaves contain elements of preaching, including a long list of appeals to Christ and a long prayer against the plague. Bears the date 1577. Bound in stamped brown leather (on bevelled wooden boards) with representations of the Holy Trinity and the Crucifixion, framed by foliage and architectural frames. Metal clasps present (but loose), leather cracked on binding in places, missing edges of cover, otherwise good condition, edges spotted with colour.
