Description
The Biblia Vulgata Latina: the first Bible translated into Spanish Published by Father Phelipe Scio de San Miguel. Valencia (Spain), Jos. & Th. de Orga, 1790-1793. In folio. 10 volumes (Old Testament: 8 vols., New Testament: 2 vols.). Printed in parallel columns of Latin and Spanish, with numerous notes and index. Frontispiece and vignettes by José Camarón, engraved by Capilla. A few lines in Hebrew in primitive characters. A fine, wide-margined copy of this important and rare edition. Some foxing. The first volume of the New Testament shows worm damage in the margin towards the end of the volume. Bound in marbled calf, decorated with gilt fillets, with morocco title-pieces, rubbed and scuffed.
