Description
Missale Romanum Naples, ex typographia Dantis, 1851. Large folio (39 x 26 cm). Numerous full-page engravings. Bound with : Missae Propriae Juxta Recentiora Decreta a Summis Pontificibus Naples, ex tipographia Petrarchiana, 1835. Splendid ecru cloth binding decorated with a pattern of tiny beads of pink, red, yellow, green, blue, violet and transparent glass, with a border of Greek design on a background of transparent beads, surrounding a border of roses, large decorative corner panels with flowers and fruit, and two large flaming hearts in the centre of the design, surrounded by a crown of thorns, the right heart pierced by a sword. Back decorated with a row of lozenges flanked by a Greek motif frame. Silk edge tabs, numerous red silk bookmarks. Some pearls missing. The Roman Missal contains the texts and rubrics for the celebration of the most common liturgies and Masses of the Roman Catholic Church.
