Complete set of maps of the four continents with Armenian captions, 1786-1787 Africa, Asia, Europe and America. Four engravings on paper, country borders enhanced in colour. The corner cartouches indicate that the maps were printed in 1786 (Europe, Africa) and 1787 (America, Asia) in Venice. 48 x 64 cm (at sight). Framed under glass. Drawn up by Fr Elias Endasian at the San Lazzaro degli Armeni monastery in Venice, Italy, these maps provide an overview of the vast contribution made by the Mekhitarist congregation to the dissemination of cultural and scientific knowledge in the Armenian world.
