This work is one of the main monuments of Armenian medical literature. The author, born in Trebizond and educated at the University of Vienna, contributed to the spread of European medical knowledge in the Armenian world. Initially written in Latin (1785), it was later presented in Armenian vernacular in order to reach a wider audience. It consists of a preface and 30 chapters covering subjects such as anatomy, physiology, the diagnosis of diseases, the use of medicines, as well as aerotherapy, hydrotherapy, phytotherapy, food hygiene and environmental cleanliness. The author saw medicine not only as a means of healing, but also as a culture for preserving a healthy life.
