Description
Two patriarchal bulls of blessing known as Kondak (Կոնդակ) Printed matter, dated 1796 and 1818-1819, addressed to Armenian visitors making a donation to the Convent of St James in Jerusalem. The 1796 blessing was given by Patriarch Petros III of Tokat (handwritten in red ink) to Our son Ter Khatchatour, a respected and esteemed priest. The second of 1818-1819 leaves the patriarch's name blank (probably Gabriel of Nicomedia) but names the benefactor as Our spiritual son Ter Martiros (name erased and replaced by Khatchatour). Bears on the header the seal of the monastery in red ink with the inscription ԿՆԻՔՍ ՍՈՒՐԲԲ ՀԱՐՈՒԹԵԱՆ ՈՉ ՊԱՐՏՈՒՑ ԱՅԼ ՕՐՀՆՈՒԹԵԱՆ (Seal of the Holy Resurrection - not for obligation, but for blessing). Enhanced ornithomorphic lettering. 43 x 28 cm and 33.5 x 24.5 cm. Folds.
