Early 19th century Ottoman manuscript Composite collection of handwritten documents in Ottoman Turkish with copies in French of the letter from Sultan Selim III to Napoleon I, Napoleon's proclamation to his troops assembled along the Niemen (22 June 1812), a page with verses by the poet Théophile: Sous un calme trompeur, le monde a mille écueils. Last pages in Greek characters with an index.
Probably intended for an Ottoman diplomat in contact with France.
In-4° (23.5 cm). Approximately 430 pages, most of them numbered.
