Vartabed stick Tip decorated with two dragon heads facing each other. Silver. Prayer inscription on one side and a dedication on the other in Armenian: Given to the Sourp Nichan monastery in 1821. This type of Armenian pastoral staff is called a gazavan (Գավազան). Sourp Nichan monastery (Saint-Signe, Սուրբ Նշան վանք Սեբաստիո) was a very important religious centre in Sivas, Turkey.
