Medical manuscript on remedies for eye diseases (late 18th - early 19th century) Manuscript on paper, black ink, 28 leaves, written in notrgir script. The text was obviously copied by two different hands. It contains a collection of recipes and medical remedies for pains and diseases of the eye, including a Table of Eye Diseases and information on the measures and weights used in domestic medical practice, identified as those used by the inhabitants of Tiflis. The work concludes with a comparative table of Russian, Turkish and Georgian weights, reflecting the multicultural context in which it was written. Although it is without date or colophon, linguistic and stylistic features indicate that it is most likely a Turkish translation, written in Armenian characters, of a Georgian medical manual, intended for use by the Armenian community in the Ottoman Empire in the late eighteenth? or early nineteenthᵉ century.
