JUST ANDERSEN (1884–1943) Pair of two-candle candlesticks, model no. 1610 Made of ‘Disko’ metal with a dark patina, each resting on a rectangular base with bevelled edges; the openwork central shaft extends into two curved, moulded arms ending in flared cups. Geometric decoration characteristic of Danish Art Deco. Marked on the base ‘DANMARK / JUST / 1610’. Denmark, c. 1940. Dimensions: approx. 24.5 × 5 cm. Condition: slight wear and signs of use to the patina. Disko metal, an alloy developed by Just Andersen, is composed primarily of tin, lead and antimony, and was widely used in his decorative creations during the interwar period. No temporary import charges apply to this lot. This lot will be automatically transferred to the Drouot storage facility following the sale.
