Description
Set of 25 negative and positive cameo impressions
This set offers a rich variety of subjects inspired by Greco-Roman mythology and classical iconography. It includes several depictions of female nudes, numerous profiles and portraits in the ancient style, as well as various mythological scenes.
Among the identifiable motifs are Leda and the swan, Venus, several women dressing, and one specimen which may depict Atalanta. One scene also appears to depict a Triton and a Nereid, subject to interpretation. Finally, the lot includes two busts of Athena, recognisable by her Corinthian helmet, emblematic of the goddess of wisdom and military strategy.
