Flared A-line skirt with a ruffled hem, featuring two oval patch pockets piped in white, each fastened with an ivory button matching those on the bustier. White lining. Woven label ‘Courrèges Paris — Made in France A’, numbered (manufacturer’s reference partially legible) Size — Estimated French size 36. Dimensions: Length: 56 cm Chest (armpit to armpit): 37 cm Waist: 38 cm This silhouette is part of the formal vocabulary developed by André Courrèges for his revolutionary collections of 1964–1965, characterised by their geometric lines, A-line dresses and famous ‘suspender dresses’. Inspired by modern architecture and the space race, the designer envisioned a wardrobe that liberated the movement of the female body through clean lines, a discreet waistline and construction of remarkable precision. Initially crafted from thick haute couture woollens, these silhouettes were later produced in vinyl and glossy PVC, becoming icons of Courrèges’ ‘Space Age’ style. This style of dress was notably immortalised by Willy Rizzo in a series of advertising photographs that have become emblematic of 1960s fashion, in which the models were styled with white boots, ribbed tights and striking graphic sunglasses, all of which contributed to the brand’s futuristic image. Condition: Good overall condition, very slight marks and stains. Wear to the waistband.
