Description
Emmanuel VILLANIS (1858-1914). "The Captive". Beautiful bronze print with a brown, brown-red and gold patina, signed on the terrace. 63x35x24cm. Expert : Cabinet Chanoit, Paris.
Probably of Italian origin, Villanis first exhibited in Milan, then from 1886 at the Salon des Artistes français. The resemblance between certain female figures in his sculptures suggests that he used an almost unique model that inspired all his work. His sculptures were also published in terracotta, and he is one of the sculptors most involved in Orientalist themes.
