Description
A Louis XVI-period hot-water bottle table. It is made of mahogany and mahogany veneer, opens via two drawers and two small pull-out compartments, and rests on a tapered, fluted, turned base. Brass mouldings with fluted edges. It features a reversible stopper, with one side in leather and the other in game cloth. The top rests on a grey Saint Anne marble slab surrounded by an openwork brass gallery. A Parisian piece from the Louis XVI period. NB: Three small period castors; the fourth is a later addition. As seen, there are small pinholes in the castor caps and slight lifting of the finish. H. 70 – Diam. 66 cm.
