Description
A small mahogany and mahogany-veneered dressing table in the Louis XVI style. It features a blue turquin marble top, known as a ‘cabaret’ top, which conceals a pivoting make-up mirror within a rack. The upper section is supported by two fluted, turned columns with ring mouldings. The lower section features a marble top set within a moulding and rests on a base with rounded sides at the front. It opens to reveal three small drawers decorated with bench mouldings. The piece stands on a small, tapered turned base adorned with small brass feet. Ornaments on the handles feature a framed design. A Parisian piece from the late Louis XVI period. NB: Damage, with mouldings and brass trim coming away from the drawer fronts. H. 106.5 – D. 42 – W. 49.5 cm.
