Description
A chest of drawers with a Louis XVI-period wood veneer finish. This rectangular piece features a rosewood veneer set within a frame of composite mouldings and amaranth. It has five drawers arranged in three rows, two of which have no crossbars. The central section is adorned with pilasters veneered with faux fluting. It rests on a square, sheathed base decorated with small feet. Bronze ornamentation includes door handles, mascarons and pull rings. The top is of veined grey marble, moulded with small projections. A Parisian piece from the Louis XVI period. NB: The garlands and small triglyphs on the front have been lowered. A lock on the upper rear drawer. Restorations to the veneer. One key fits both drawers. H. 85 – D. 65 – W. 127 cm.
