Description
A very fine set of four Louis XVI-style armchairs in repainted wood. The trapezoidal backrests are cabriole-style, adorned with heart-and-stripe moulding that flows into the cuffed arms. The arms are supported by turned, fluted balusters decorated with lotus foliage. The seat rim, which is stepped at the front, is basket-handle shaped and adorned with heart-shaped moulding. The chairs rest on turned, tapered, fluted legs. A Parisian piece from the Louis XVI period. Probably attributed to Jean-Baptiste BOULARD. Spring-supported upholstery. One corner of the foot block is slightly damaged. As seen. H. 88.5 – D. 51 – W. 60 cm.
