Description
A set of six chairs with cane seats in painted and natural wood. The backrests are scroll-cut and feature a decorative motif comprising a cartouche and foliage in the upper section. The seats, set on a painted wooden cane-back frame, are supported by crossbars decorated with a small shell and a large cartouche on the front. They rest on a curved base joined by an X-shaped brace. Dated to around 1740, probably Parisian. NB: Seats restored, cross-brace reinforced. Reinforcing brackets. As is. H. 88.5 – D. 42 – W. 48 cm.
