Description
* Quentin DEROUET (born 1988) Intention, 2013 Perfume bottle created using essences inspired by the artist’s works, accompanied by a certificate stating that it is a non-commercial edition, with the inscription ‘Pour Chantal’ and signed Dimensions: 23 x 28 cm Label on the reverse stating that there are 30 copies of this work, created in 2012 for the Prix de la Jeune Création de Nice, which the artist won. Having graduated with honours from the Villa Arson in Nice in 2012, Quentin Derouet has since been represented by galleries in Paris, Nice, Grenoble, as well as in Shanghai and Beirut. Chantal Helenbeck introduced him to Meilland in Antibes, who went on to create a variety of rose for him; the artist then applied it directly to his canvas, crushed, macerated, diluted and charred. It was again Chantal Helenbeck who accompanied the artist to China, where he met the world’s largest rose grower. The colour of the material sometimes evolves on the canvas over time, turning the work into a living, organic piece.
