A follower of Carlo DOLCI (1616–1686) Madonna and Child Oil on canvas. H 66 cm W 52.5 cm Re-stretched. Bears an inscription ‘Carache Louis’ on the reverse of the stretcher. The artist of this painting draws openly on the compositions of Carlo Dolci. A Baroque painter and pupil of Jacopo Vignali, Dolci developed his own distinctive style of devotional painting, refining the models he established, from which this painting is derived.
