Description
A ‘Reine’ style living room chair in carved, moulded and lacquered beech wood. The horseshoe-shaped backrest features curved armrests joined by an interlaced frieze and finished with cuffs. The console-style supports are adorned with acanthus scrolls. The flared, arched frieze at the front is embellished with a heart-and-ray motif and a row of pearls; the mounting blocks are adorned with rosettes. It rests on four tapered legs with rings and serrated fluting. Tapestry covers depicting pastoral scenes and ‘La Fontaine’s Fables’, surmounted by festoons and surrounded by floral garlands.
Three armchairs stamped: L.M. PLUVINET. Louis Magdeleine PLUVINET. (? – 1785). Cited as a master in 1775.
