Description
A large mantelpiece set in chiselled and gilded bronze and white marble, comprising a clock and a pair of candelabra. The clock, with its architectural design, is surmounted by a group in the round depicting three cupids in a hunting scene. The white enamelled dial, featuring Roman and Arabic numerals, is set within a white marble case richly decorated with gilded bronze, garlands of flowers, interlacing patterns, foliage friezes, openwork panels and trimmings motifs. The pair of six-armed candelabra each feature a gilded bronze cupid, seated on a mound and holding the base of a cluster of sweeping arms decorated with scrollwork and foliage. The sconces are adorned with acanthus leaves. They rest on fluted white marble columns encircled by garlands of flowers in gilded bronze, ending in quadrangular bases with bevelled sides.
