Jacques Ignace Hittorff (1792–1867) attributed to – Design for a monument, a lamppost for the Place du Carrousel at the Louvre, Paris. Drawing in pencil, pen and Indian ink, watercolour on vellum paper. 99 x 64 cm. Losses, tears, water stains.
This document depicts the Carrousel Triumphal Arch commissioned by Napoleon I from Charles Percier and Pierre Fontaine. It may be assumed that this drawing is in the tradition of the development projects conceived or carried out by Hittorff from 1834 onwards on the Place de la Concorde, where comparable stylistic elements can be found.
