Description
Henri Rivière (1864–1951) – The Downpour. 1901. Printed by Verneau. Original colour lithograph on ivory-coloured glossy vellum. Signed and monogrammed on the plate in the lower left-hand corner. Title and printer’s mark in the bottom right-hand corner. Plate: 24x60cm; Sheet: 31x67.5cm. In perfect condition, with fresh colours.
This is plate no. 7 from the series ‘La féerie des heures’.
We can see a peasant woman running with her herd to take shelter in a seaside landscape typical of Brittany. It would appear, moreover, that the cows are of the Armoricaine breed.
Reference: Toudouze 113.
