Description

ARMAGNAC – 1 bottle, Bas Armagnac, Laubade, 1936. Bottled in April 2006. In a wooden box (slightly dirty and damaged). Produced from a blend of Ugni Blanc and Colombard grapes, this Armagnac was crafted in the traditional manner using an Armagnac-style column still. Poured into casks at 58% vol., it was patiently aged in Gascony oak casks before being transferred to a demijohn in the mid-1970s. This long ageing period gives it a deep mahogany colour and an intense nose characterised by rancio, prune and vanilla. On the palate, the attack is very smooth and round, revealing a lovely richness of flavour and a fine balance throughout the tasting. The finish, meanwhile, lingers persistently with subtle woody and roasted notes.
