Victor LENEPVEU (active c. 1899–1900) The Museum of Horrors A collection of approximately fifty-six colour lithographs from the famous series ‘The Museum of Horrors’, published in Paris between 1899 and 1900, at the height of the Dreyfus Affair. Through caricatures of rare virulence, Victor Lenepveu depicts the leading figures of the Dreyfusard camp, offering a particularly telling account of the political and ideological tensions of the late 19th century. This collection, which is incomplete and includes a few duplicate prints, provides an interesting insight into the history of French caricature and political propaganda. Dimensions of the prints: 65 × 50 cm Also included is a set of eight colour lithographs from the rare series ‘Le Musée des Patriotes’, published in Paris in 1900 by Victor Lenepveu as a companion to ‘Le Musée des horreurs’. Dedicated to several iconic figures of the nationalist and anti-Dreyfusard movement, these posters provide a remarkable record of the political passions aroused by the Dreyfus Affair. Less well-known than ‘Le Musée des horreurs’, this series remains relatively rare on the print market today. This set also includes a few duplicate prints. Dimensions of the prints: 65 × 50 cm Condition: Yellowed prints. Frayed edges with, in places, a few gaps and tears. Also included is a game of the goose featuring a caricature of General Boulanger, as well as a supplement to *Le Figaro* dated 30 March 1889
