Description
Honoré Daumier (1808-1879), after - France, Ville de Pau, Don Quichotte, Musée des Beaux-Arts, 1955. Printed by Mourlot. 61.5 x 47 cm. Original poster, lithograph on untrimmed Arches paper. Condition A, perfect state of conservation. Based on a work by Honoré Daumier, this poster features one of the most emblematic interpretations of the theme of Don Quixote, a recurring and essential figure in the artist's graphic imagination. Through this motif, Daumier explores the tension between ideal and reality, treated with the expressive force and economy of means characteristic of his art. Printed by the Mourlot studio in 1955 on Arches paper, this edition bears witness to the rediscovery and promotion of his lithographic work in the 20th century, particularly in the context of major French museum exhibitions.
