Produced for an exhibition by Abraham Rattner at the Kennedy Galleries in New York in 1972, this poster highlights a body of work characterised by intense colourful expression and a formal construction nourished by symbolic and figurative references. Associated with twentieth-century American Expressionism, Rattner developed a pictorial language in which colour, light and the expressive distortion of figures occupy a central place. This exhibition bears witness to his recognition on the New York art scene in the early 1970s. The lithograph chosen to illustrate this poster depicts a boxing match.
