Description
Jean Bazaine (1904-2001) - Blason des douze mois, tapestries, Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris, 1975. Printed by ARTE Paris. 80 x 56 cm. Original poster, lithograph. Condition A, perfect state of conservation. Produced for an exhibition devoted to Jean Bazaine at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1975, this poster highlights a group of tapestries from his pictorial universe, characterised by lyrical abstraction based on colour, light and rhythm. A major figure in the post-war École de Paris, Bazaine developed a body of work in which painting and the decorative arts were in close dialogue, in a quest for unity between surface, sign and chromatic emotion. This exhibition highlights the importance of his collaborations in the field of monumental tapestry in the twentieth century.
