Description
Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) - Tuna Fishing. Original lithograph in colours on untrimmed wove paper, 52.5 x 76 cm. Signed in the plate. Condition A-, handling folds in the left margin. This work is a lithographic interpretation of one of the most monumental and complex canvases from the artist's period of "nuclear mysticism". Dalí deploys titanic energy here, combining classical references, surrealism and atomic dynamism in an epic struggle between man and animal. The composition is an explosion of movement in which the bodies intermingle in a tumult of vibrant blues and reds. The vellum paper support with its untrimmed edges underlines the quality of this edition, which restores the richness of detail and depth of perspective of the original composition. This work is a fascinating testimony to the mastery of a Dalí at the height of his metaphysical and technical reflections.
