Abraham Rattner (1895-1978) - In the beginning. Original lithograph in colours on untrimmed wove paper, 65 x 50 cm. Signed in pencil by the artist lower right. Condition A, perfect state of conservation. This powerful work is in the spiritual expressionist vein of Rattner, who was often haunted by biblical and cosmogonic themes. Through a composition in which colour bursts into almost glass-like facets, the artist transcribes the original chaos and the birth of light. The brushstrokes, both tormented and structured, bear witness to his time in Paris and the influence of Cubism, which he was able to adapt to a highly personal, mystical and emotional vision.
