Description
Louis Titz (1859-1932) - Aerschot. Original colour lithograph (offset transfer process) on wove paper, 63 x 48.5 cm. Condition A- a few marginal tears and horizontal folds. This work illustrates Louis Titz's talent for depicting Belgian architectural heritage, a field in which he excelled through the precision of his line and his mastery of perspective. The words "printed on offset" in the margin indicate the printing method used to distribute the original lithographic drawing, a common practice in the early 20th century to combine artistic finesse with greater print run capacity. The composition offers a picturesque view of Aerschot, captured with the atmospheric sensitivity and attention to historical detail that made Titz a major visual chronicler of his time. The generous format of 63 x 48.5 cm allows us to appreciate the rich nuances and clarity of the urban space depicted by the artist. This is an excellent piece for fans of Belgian iconography, showing the evolution of printmaking techniques between tradition and industrial modernity.
