Description
Raymond Gid (1905-2000) - Bally. Original lithograph (or collector's poster) on wove paper, 65 x 50 cm. Condition A, perfect state of conservation. Raymond Gid, one of the greatest French poster designers and typographers of the 20th century, created an iconic collaboration for the famous Swiss shoe manufacturer. His style is characterised by an absolute economy of means and an elegance of line that borders on purity. In this composition, Gid succeeds in sublimating the product not through a literal representation, but through a poetic and graphic evocation, often playing on curves and movement. The mastery of the empty space and the precision of the layout bear witness to his genius as a graphic designer, capable of transforming an advertising commission into a timeless work of art. The 65 x 50 cm format showcases the purity of line and quality of contrast for which Gid is renowned among collectors of advertising art and design. An emblematic piece of the post-war aesthetic of the "Masters of the Poster", combining luxury, sobriety and modernity.
