Valerio Adami (born 1935) - Cover for "Derrière le Miroir". Rare trial edition in original lithograph on wove paper, 42.7 x 61 cm (dimensions before cutting). Exceptional working proof with printer's annotations in the margins, produced before trimming and before printing the text (title and number of the journal). Condition A, perfect state of preservation. This piece offers a fascinating insight into the creative process behind the Galerie Maeght's famous magazine. Adami's fragmented style, characterised by flat, bright colours surrounded by surgical black lines influenced by Pop Art and comic strips, is captured here in its purest form. The colour markings and technical notes in the margins bear witness to the adjustments needed to achieve the chromatic perfection demanded by the workshops of the time. As a proof "before the letter", it preserves the entire graphic field, revealing details that are often lost in the final cut.
