Description
Maurice Brianchon (1899-1979) - The Tricolour. Original lithograph in colours on wove paper, 39.5 x 30 cm. Handwritten annotation "Bon à tirer" and signature "Brianchon" in pencil in the lower margin. Condition A, perfect state of preservation. This work is a precious testimony to the work of Brianchon, a major figure in Poetic Reality, whose art is defined by discreet elegance and subtle chromatic harmony. The composition, probably centred on a bouquet motif or an interior scene with patriotic overtones suggested by the title, illustrates his mastery of flat tints of colour and his ability to simplify forms without losing their sensitivity. The "Bon à tirer" (BAT) mark gives this print an exceptional status: it is the reference copy, personally validated by the artist with the printer to launch the final print run. It is by definition a unique piece, bearing the direct imprint of the painter's exacting technical standards. The intimate format underlines the finesse of the lithographic grain and the softness of the tonal transitions, characteristic of a work that favours atmosphere and plastic distinction.
