Description
Walasse Ting (1929-2010) - Composition from the "Erotica" portfolio. Original lithograph in colours on wove paper, 49.5 x 58 cm. Condition A, perfect state of conservation. This plate belongs to one of the artist's most emblematic series, in which he celebrates sensuality and the female figure with joyful exuberance. Ting's style, at the crossroads of abstract expressionism and traditional Chinese calligraphy, is characterised by bright, often fluorescent colours and a flowing line of great vitality. The work is part of his ongoing research into desire and beauty, using projections of colour and generous shapes to create an atmosphere of sensory celebration. The large format makes it possible to appreciate the freedom of gesture and the richness of pigment characteristic of his work from the 70s and 80s. Walasse Ting, nicknamed the "flower thief", delivers here an uninhibited and poetic vision of eroticism, turning each plate in this portfolio into a luminous explosion. This work is representative of the communicative energy of an artist who has succeeded in marrying East and West in a visceral pop aesthetic.
