Description
Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) - One of May, 1972. Lithograph and offset in colours on wove paper, 73,5 x 109 cm.( plate 60x100cm) Signed in the plate. Condition B: a marginal tear, otherwise in good condition. This monumental work illustrates Dalí's mature period, in which he fused his surrealist obsessions with modern reproduction techniques to create images of stunning visual impact. "Une de Mai" deploys a dreamlike perspective typical of the Catalan master, combining elements of a transfigured Catalan landscape with allegorical figures floating in an expanded space. The combined use of lithography and offset printing gives an almost photographic precision to the details, while retaining the vibrancy of colour that is typical of graphic art. The exceptional format of this plate gives it a theatrical dimension, transforming the scene into a metaphysical panorama where each symbol invites a multiple reading. Although the tear in the margin requires attention when framing, it does not encroach on the image, preserving the integrity of this spectacular vision. This is a collector's item that bears witness to Dalinian excess and his genius for staging dreams on a grand scale.
