Description
Richard LINTON by Henri DESCHAMPS - Portrait of a boat. Original colour lithograph on wove paper, 49 x 65 cm (size before trimming). Signed in pencil by the master lithographer Henri Deschamps and enriched with a handwritten dedication by the latter. Condition A-, a small stain in the right margin. This piece is the result of an exceptional technical and artistic collaboration between the marine painter Richard Linton and Henri Deschamps, one of the most illustrious practitioners of the Mourlot printing house, famous for having interpreted the works of Picasso, Braque and Chagall. The work illustrates a ship with remarkable documentary precision and plastic elegance, capturing the majesty of the sails and the transparency of the water. Deschamps' hand can be seen in the richness of the textures and the depth of the inks, elevating this boat portrait to the rank of a first-rate work of graphic art. The fact that the sheet is preserved before trimming is a precious detail for collectors, as it presents its original margins as they left the workshop presses, guaranteeing the total integrity of the print. Deschamps' signature and dedication add further historical value, testifying to the lithographer's crucial role in transmitting the artist's style. This is a choice piece for lovers of marine art and the history of 20th-century printmaking.
