This poster promoted a book dedicated to Buster Keaton with a cover by Pierre Etaix reproduced on the poster. In the 1920s, Joseph Schenck was a major producer and businessman in American cinema. He founded Buster Keaton Productions, which produced Keaton's most famous films. Schenck played several important roles: producer and distributor of Keaton's films, financial and organisational support, and responsible for showing the films in cinemas. Thanks to this structure, Keaton made his great silent film classics. After the silent era, the rights to certain films passed into different hands. In the middle of the XXᵉ century, Raymond Rohauer acquired or controlled some of these rights. He then devoted himself to: restoring and distributing films, organising screenings and festivals, publishing books and documents about Keaton (such as The Best of Buster). Raymond Rohauer took an early interest in cinema and film history. In the 1940s and 1950s, he began to work as a collector of old films, a distributor of independent films and an organiser of classic film screenings. He played a part in the rediscovery of silent films, which at the time were still little appreciated. Rohauer became famous for having assembled a large collection of films and documents relating to silent cinema. In this poster, Buster Keaton can be seen trying to pick up some debris just before a passer-by inadvertently carries away the paper intended to hold it. Cinema.
