Description
Dan Reisinger (1934-2019) - Hazimriya. 1975. Printed by Japhet Press, Israel 114x76cm. Original lithographed poster. Not canvas-backed. Condition A-, some folds in the margins. This poster was designed to advertise the 1975 edition of the Hazimriya Choral Festival, a major international gathering of choirs held in Israel. Founded in 1952, the Hazimriya festival regularly brings vocal ensembles from many countries to Tel Aviv and is one of the major events in Israeli musical life. The graphic composition is typical of Reisinger's style, characterised by simple geometric shapes, bold colours and a clear visual construction inherited from the international modernism of the 1960s and 1970s. Through a play of colourful, dynamic shapes, the artist visually suggests the idea of harmony and choral unity, transforming the promotional poster into a strong, instantly recognisable graphic image. Born in 1934 in Kanjiža (then in Yugoslavia), Dan Reisinger moved to Israel after the Second World War. He studied at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem and then in London before becoming one of the leading Israeli graphic designers of the second half of the XXᵉ century. He produced numerous cultural posters, visual identities and public design projects, making a major contribution to the development of modern graphic design in Israel. Vintage.
