Description
Jean-Marie Ledannois (1940-2014) - Exhibition, 1973. Galerie Christiane Colin, Paris. Printed by Arts Litho, Paris. 70x50cm. Original poster, lithograph. Not canvas-backed. Condition A. Perfect condition. Original poster produced for the exhibition of Jean-Marie Ledannois at the Christiane Colin gallery in Paris in 1973. A non-figurative painter, lithographer and ceramist, Ledannois developed a language somewhere between geometric abstraction and abstract landscape painting, influenced in particular by artists such as Rothko, Albers and Soulages, with particular attention paid to the construction of space and the balance of colour. Galerie Christiane Colin, notably located on the Quai Bourbon on the Île Saint-Louis, played an active role in the 1970s in promoting young contemporary artists and abstract research. This 1973 exhibition is well documented, and corresponds to an important period in the artist's visibility in Paris. The poster is set against the backdrop of the revival of French abstraction in the 1970s and the network of Parisian galleries committed to promoting it.
