According to witnesses at the time, it took 16 trial prints with the artist at the foot of the press to finally produce this poster. The quality is such that any photos distort and depreciate the poster! Original poster printed to announce the presentation of the ballet Astarte by the Joffrey Ballet at the New York City Center in New York. This poster accompanied the premiere of the ballet Astarte, a landmark choreographic work of the late 1960s. Created in 1967 by Robert Joffrey, founder of the Joffrey Ballet, Astarte is considered to be one of the first multimedia ballets. The piece combines classical dance, rock music, film projections and experimental lighting, reflecting the innovative spirit and psychedelic aesthetic of the period.
