Description
A rare flared stemmed glass with a ‘latticino’ decoration of white ‘fili’ and ‘retortoli’ motifs; the stem
featuring a single band, mounted on a circular foot made of added vermeil (800 parts per thousand), with
repoussé decoration of rocaille motifs and chiselled acanthus leaves. Good condition.
The glass: Venice, late 16th century.
The base: Augsburg, 18th century.
Silversmith: ‘ICS’ hallmark, probably for Johann Carl Stiebeldey (active
1731–1765).
H. 16.5 cm. Gross weight: XX cm.
